The problem I see is that they should be saying your name is Sally not Johnny you are a girl not a boy and explaining the difference to her. At the age of 6 she acts on what she sees in my opinion she has 2 male roll models which makes her want to be just like them. If there was a female role model she would most likely want to be just like the female. As for shaving her head and calling her Johnny those 2 adults need to give there friggen head a shack if you are old enough to make life changing decisions like adopting a child you should have the common sence not to do this to a child... I guess that's why they say common sense isn't so common anymore

Here in Tennessee a representative is introducing a bill basically saying that kids will have to use the bathroom for the gender on their birth certificate. He is already being criticized by some. Not me to be sure.
Someone needs to come up with a name or catch phrase for this type of aberration. If a child is born a male then he is a boy. If born female she is a girl. I guess if someone goes thru the process of a legal name change, then they can be called whatever. They will still be the gender they were born as.

This is very similar to the issue about target removing gender specific toy labeling in there store, as they see it as a girl can play with a toy gun and a boy can play with a barbie. It's the same when a 6 year old girl says she wants to dress like a boy, is she doing it because she feels she was born in the wrong body or is it more to do with role models and influences? I honestly believe that at 6 years old you can't decide whether your the wrong sex or not, I think that only happens after puberty. However, I do feel the parents were only doing what they felt was right and what there daughter wanted, I could stipulate that them being very supporting of there daughters supposed gender change may have something to do with the fact they are *** and probably felt trapped or scared before coming out as ***. As for the teachers being fired, well you could argue about political correctness going to far and how people are offended too easily and I'd probably agree with you, however as a father I think if I or my son made a serious lifestyle choice(again I don't think this is to do with the girl wanting to be transgender as much as having a prominent male role model) then others should accept it and cooperate with it, unless it is harmful to the child. They are teachers, there job is looking after children from various backgrounds and lifestyles, they should fufil there duty and respect the parents wishes. If they were concerned over the well-being of the child they should have had a talk with the parents.
Also in case anyone thinks this is a reason for *** couples not to raise children then that's ridiculous, its not so much whos raising them as much as how they raise them.

So, if the parents say their child is a dog for that day the teachers have to treat them like a dog?
That's not a lifestyle choice, that's a child using there imagination. But yeah, if I were a teacher and a kid said they were a dog, I'd play along to entertain the child. However if the parents said they wanted me to acknowledge there child as a dog from now on I'd step in and voice my concern for the child as obviously the parents are a little nuts.
My daughter is extremely shy. So much that after 2 full months she still hasn't talked to her teacher. The problem is the teacher does oral testing. We have had to take her to a shrink to get approval for applying to a special condition where the teacher won't fail her just because of her not talking. We also had to fill out an application for this program... which has still been in the works now for weeks.
It's not like a switch that teachers can flip in 1 day. Treating a child differently then the rest of the group throws them off.
Hello; I agree with one thing you posted, that the parents are apparently "nuts". What is a puzzle is while acknowledging the nuttiness of this incident, is support for the notion that others should accept and cooperate with.
Thank goodness that no parent ever told me to treat their child as a "dog" when I was a teacher. I did have one kid who would "bark" out loud from time to time. In the class room I treated her like any other unruly student, on the playground I left her alone.
when i was kid in grade school, thinking 4th grade was girl at reassess that wanted to be and acted like a horse. all year long, in the class room, she was a student, nothing more, nothing less. I ran into her like 6 years later, she said I know longer act like a horse. I said that was good had a pleasant conversation and went about our way, never saw her again. Let the kids imagination go at reassess. hell i was Godzilla some times. but not in the class room.
