I would say prawns brings out the color of arowanas. I only feed pellets to my fish so they can get vitamins that have have been put to that certain food. In the past back when I was in high school, I only feed my asian aros with pellest as market food were expensive back then as I don't have a job. Now that I can but some markey prawn I noticed that the color is more darker. Even in silver aros, the fins becomes darker redish pink.
:iagree: especially prawn with the shell still on.

All of my aro never eat's pellet still they are doing well....for me just give them as much nutrition needed is enough for them....no need to add any chemical is good

you feed them frozen dried krill

Its freeze dried krill first of all, and one pointy peice and your aros dead. His diet right now is already reasonable, no need to alter it.

well when i feed it i kinda crack da head off so yea

I wouldnt say it is a MUST, but it is highly recommended. Im talking about high quality pellets like Hikari.
Firstly it is clean & it provides the nutrients that you cant give in live food.
It is easy to feed when you go on holiday. Its reliable and quick.

I dont recommend this for other Arowana keepers. But this is what i feed it other than the regular arowana diet..

I got the idea from videos of ppl feeding Arowana with mice.. which is red meat..

kinda got me thinking.. if they can digest meat.... what would be the most cost effective way to feeding an arowana without spending 20 bucks a bag of arowana sticks.... so i tried beef... raw of course, cut in strips so that they sorta look like feeders

I've tested it out with my arowana with VERY interesting results..
They do grow faster.. colors do improve (probably because of the high carb) His body has become more thicker than most arowana...

But there's a down side... ammonia level sorta kicks up.. and i have to do more frequent water change..
I dont feed him this diet everyday.... but twice a week..

He still eats arowana sticks, dried shrimp and most recently FH pellet..
But its a way so that i dont have to spend so much money on Arowana food...

not a must but is good to add them to there diet...

I heard stuffing the market shrimp with a high quality pellet is also a great option, though I question the cost effectiveness.
Thats only to get aros on pellets. If you did that even if your aro eats pellets then you have way too much time on your hands. Might as well just feed both seperately if you're gunna stuff pellets inside shrimp.
