I dont recommend this for other Arowana keepers. But this is what i feed it other than the regular arowana diet..

I got the idea from videos of ppl feeding Arowana with mice.. which is red meat..

kinda got me thinking.. if they can digest meat.... what would be the most cost effective way to feeding an arowana without spending 20 bucks a bag of arowana sticks.... so i tried beef... raw of course, cut in strips so that they sorta look like feeders

I've tested it out with my arowana with VERY interesting results..
They do grow faster.. colors do improve (probably because of the high carb) His body has become more thicker than most arowana...

But there's a down side... ammonia level sorta kicks up.. and i have to do more frequent water change..
I dont feed him this diet everyday.... but twice a week..

He still eats arowana sticks, dried shrimp and most recently FH pellet..
But its a way so that i dont have to spend so much money on Arowana food...

instead of beef, try chicken.Believe me. Raw chicken in cubes.

Thats only to get aros on pellets. If you did that even if your aro eats pellets then you have way too much time on your hands. Might as well just feed both seperately if you're gunna stuff pellets inside shrimp.

Ah thanks, wasn't sure where I read about it but now I do. :D

What types of food should I powerfeed a 2" aro to make it grow faster?

Don't powerfeed. :grinno: You'll shorten it life!

x2, constant overfeeding seems to kill fish, all except rays lol.

For real?
There are glass shrimps & small feeders in the tank now, so it'll eat when it wants to just like in the wild.. Does this consider as powerfeed?

:screwy:How long do you think it takes to stuff a pellet into a piece of shrimp. Some aros can't or won't eat pellets, this is a very good method for getting them into their diet. Really it don't take that long.

You only stuff them because your aro won't eat pellets by themselves right? That's what soden is saying. If your aro will accept pellets then there's no point in stuffing them into the shrimp.

Very true I did not read your post completely. I responded in regards to negativity towards stuffing shrimp with pellets. Not sure how this helps getting an aro onto pellets, either way it really doesn't take taht long:grinno:
