Coppersafe is very good and also very safe. I kept it in my tank at 3/4 dosage for 8 whole months. My goldy plecos, juruense catfish, dats, jardini, and pbass all did fine.

I would be, especially if it was flukes, which with the signs and the dieing so quickly that is my guess as to what it was.

well I have another Dat showing the same signs. this time I caught it earlier.
this is a new dat to me last week. A larger size, a widebar and from a source I trust.
Once again parametors check out good. The water is alittle hard but im in n. florida and it always is.
this time it started with what looked like Ich. I treated with salt and heat the spots had just started to go away and low an behold I have a Dat breathing hard and then at the surface.
I used tetra parasite guard yesterday with no results, I just completed a 25% water change it says I can treat with this again after 48 hours. I have also done 2 baths in potasium permanagate. I did these today.
the good news is this one is still alive but not showing much in the way of improvement. He is stabilized but breathing really hard.
I have some coppersafe should I add it now ? I really don't want to loose this one. No other tankmates are showing signs of anything just like before. I can't find anything that says coppersafe would react bad with the left over parasite guard.
Let me know, my instinct is to add it but I would like to be sure.

I don't think hard water is an issue. Mine is hard and my dats love it. What type of filters are you using and what size is your tank? Tank mates as well?
i Have 5 Its that size and i have noticed that in them i think its just a settling in thing...mine did the same thing when i moved them!
for a couple days though? at the top. the last one died so suddenly the inside of his gills look pretty red.

Hmm.. The source which you trust. Did they have the dat in their possession for awhile? My guess is some sort of parasite
