Is tank water nasty to you?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Growing up my dad always carried a hose in the back of his truck just to take out a few gallons for the ATVs, mowers, or what ever else we needed. He told me he was too old to be sucking in gas so if I wanted to ride the ATV I better learn to siphon gas. You learn pretty quick a clear hose is the best and how to do it right the first time.

We used to do that around here also but from other peoples cars. I think that is where the term "hoser" came from. As in,,, Take off hoser!!!
lol

To answer the OP's title, "no" I don't find MY tank water any more nasty than the local lake/stream/ocean.

I see people here posting concerns about getting water into their mouth, but the fact is, there's more chance of getting "sick" from an open cut on your hands exposed to tank water than there is via oral exposure.

I would personally rather drink from a river/stream for 2 reasons.

1) A tank has a much higher concentration of fish waste.
2) What goes in must come out. Knowing the food industry, and the chemicals that are purposely put into food that is meant for human consumption... how safe do you think food is that is not meant for human consumption. What's in those brightly colored fish pellets? Yum.

I understand your point, but this thread was never, ever about consuming tank water. If you accidentally get a mouthful, spit it out and go rinse with some mouth wash and you're good to go. From what I've read, even deadly snake venoms aren't fatal if ingested

Everytime my missus makes me a brew i'm sure i'm drinking tank water, and don't get me started on her cooking!
If she happens to ever read this, you definitely will be unknowningly consuming tank water in some form lol

I understand, but if you get a mouthful, you are not spitting out 100%.

That's why I mentioned mouth wash. Good old alcohol as an antiseptic.

Its always been my belief that you need to have a tiny exposure to the bad stuff just to keep that immune system honed and sharp. My career is in the medical field, so I do have a pretty good understanding of pathogens

Lol or just have a shot or two while doing your water changes. ;)

It is along the same line as to why Gringos should never drink tap water down in Mexico, which is a non issue for the locals :)
