The same thing has already been introduced into Australia for years.

Although it really restricts the hobby....you also need to look at the positive.

I bet the water ways in Australia are a lot cleaner (fewer introduced species) because of this law.
though this may be true and im assuming your from the states, if not put yourself in my shoes. imagine if someone came to your house and took all of your fish away, knowing that they were going to be disposed of. i would kill someone. just like that kid who killed his parents cause they took away halo 3. i halo 3 and my fish are two things you just dont mess with. if you do, i cant promise it wont result in someone other than myself dying.

Nope.

I live in Australia and I have experienced what you just said first hand.

edit: it is not pretty :(

No not mine personally...but a close friend. Some of the fish I had previously owned and raised though.

wow. im very sorry to hear that! i cant believe that. i cant begin to imagine how you deal with that being in this hobby.

In a time where the economy is supposedly in rough shape....this seems like a great time to put an industry out of business. GREAT!

so we'd hafe to kill any non natives we own?
THAT WOULD SUCK BIG TIME
even my White Clouds, my Otto, and my Bythinia
 :irked:

Did anybody even read any of what is being proposed or just spew forth crap off the top of their heads?

Section 3 article F.

Animals Owned Lawfully Prior to Prohibition of Importation- This Act and regulations issued under this Act shall not interfere with the ability of any person to possess an individual animal of any species if such individual animal was legally owned by the person before the risk assessment is begun pursuant to subsection (e)(3), even if such species is later prohibited from being imported under the regulations issued under this Act.

It's a risk assessment process for gods sake, that's it. A process by which they can assess if a species is a risk. This Act doesn't do anything about banning any species.

The purpose of this Act is to establish a risk assessment process to prevent the introduction into, and establishment in, the United States of nonnative wildlife species that will cause or are likely to cause economic or environmental harm or harm to other animal species' health or human health.
