AC110 or fx5 I would say. If you want canister then go with some of the smaller fluvals that are more in your price range. a 405 would look nice on a 125.

One thing I've found out about Bio-wheels is that you can maintain a substantial colony of beneficial bacteria with a lower pH as compared to other filters that don't expose the bacteria to air as much. Make any sense?

what ever you get make sure it comes with media. unless its a very good deal.

theres a used fx5 on there 2 hours left, $129 to bad it doesnt have hoses.

Ok, after wht i have read wht is a good site to find good filters cheap? I want to put atleast 2 100gallon size filters due to the fact i got 2 oscars and may put other tank mates in the tank. the tank will be 125gallons!

Not sure I would go with a site that quotes a regular pricefor the magnum pro as $229:screwy:

Petsolutions.com has the magnum pro for $114.99 plus free shipping.

The magnum is the best bang for the buck, but i would run at least 2 of them. or, spend $300 and get an Ehiem 2250 and have more than enough media for those Oscars, and it will last forever!! AND be super quiet!!

I didn't vote because I'm a slave to math. The bio-wheel on my P150 works out to about one and a half bio-balls! I would expect the bio-wheel on the Marineland 350 to be equivalent to three to three and a half bio-balls.

With that said, how do you guys think this filter would stack up to a small wet/dry with about a hundred bio-balls? (I suddenly feel the need to buy stocks in a bio-ball company...)

You be better off buying an AC110.

IME the magnums require frequent cleaning to keep them from loosing flow, this is compared with other canister filters. Also shop around you should be able to pick up the magnumfor 20-30 bucks less then posted in those links.

I agree! Ac110s are very powerful filters, not quiet but powerful. they have awesome media choices and you can vary the flow stregth.
