I voted for the one with biowheels but I would opt for something else. If you are will to spend almost $240 on two of these filters you could find somehting much better. Should be able to find an FX5 for that price.

You can buy one FX5 cheaper then the two magnums.

you beat me too it

Yea, I have a magnum 350 and an AC70 and even that seems to work better than my 350. 350s arent bad but theres better out there and at a better value. You could also DIY a canister, theres a thread on here and its pretty simple

Ill keep a eye on ebay for fx's

I didn't vote because I'm a slave to math. The bio-wheel on my P150 works out to about one and a half bio-balls! I would expect the bio-wheel on the Marineland 350 to be equivalent to three to three and a half bio-balls.

With that said, how do you guys think this filter would stack up to a small wet/dry with about a hundred bio-balls? (I suddenly feel the need to buy stocks in a bio-ball company...)
Where did you find the surface area of a bio wheel ? Ive searched relentlessly and never found anything conclusive as far as surface area of these....

I have to admit that I would NOT use the Mag350 as a primary filter. I would deff go for an AC110 or even a diffrent canister (XP3, FX5, Ehiem 238923485239) But I do love my mag 350, it really cant be beat for an off the shelf mech/chem filter, and if things get really messy you can always load the micron cartredge with DE and boom its a diatom filter. You can put carbon/peat/argonite ect buffers or even ceramic rings if you wanted into the basket and run that as well. Its a very versatile and handy secondary filter but I would deff get somthing els to handle your bio.
