Again,, its is not the live feeding ( some do not do it , but none opposes it, I believe )

It is the snuff, gory , torture, voyeuristic, element ( conveyed by sites like you tube ) that most of the MFKers do not condone.
Exactly.

Though still civil after 12 pages for the most part, it seems some are still taking the defense of using live feeders. That's not the point I don't think, it's like Miguel said, "the snuff, gory, torture, voyeristic element" that gets shown in videos is the problem for some.

The point was clearly stated in the first post :)

I just read over this entire thread and have some problems;

1) I am sick and tired of seeing people blame the young, immature members.
Seriously get over yourselves, it is not the young who are feeding live feeders but rather all age groups. Targeting one age group instead of a type of person instantly flaws your argument IMO. This is because you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Either that or you are one of these arrogant old people who believe you know best and the young are stupid.
When I bought my Jardini the store owner (mid to late 40s) explained how they MUST be feed live feeders, I (21) explained they MUST eat what I give them or they WILL die. Live feeders are not on the menu in my house.

2) It is natural for fish to eat live fish, but that is in their natural environment not in a box. Using this argument as self defense in this type of argument i pointless, you will all ways get the same response. Read the start of the paragraph.

3) Feeding live feeders is not wrong, if done correctly. It should not be done purely for viewing pleasure, if you enjoy watching your fish chase down a feeder, good for you. It is not until you video the act and advertise it as some awesome thing that you're doing something morally wrong IMO.

4) Species of the live feeder doesn't change a thing (this hasn't come up in this thread, but I have seen it before http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65795&highlight=goldfish) The size of the fish and swiftness of death is what counts. Nothing else.

5) Filming your fish die for the purpose of a snuff film is wrong, I, along with others, have always said this.

This thread will not change anything. Fish are predators... treat them as such. If you film it and boast, that's childish. But if you are offended by such videos, that is even more childish. And people should know that broad generalized statements offend people. I am young, therefore I must be lumped into this fish-murder crazed culture that runs around with 8mm's capturing fish torture. Come on people... ultimately, they are fish. How many have you killed trying to mimic their natural water conditions in your aquarium? These glass boxes are all they know, but they still have instinct and still appreciate live food. And it is cool to watch your fish explode to fulfill its natural urge to predate. What a thread this is....

I am generally bothered by the attitude towards feeder bred mice.
The attitude often seems like if they are cheap and plentiful, anything goes.

They are fed live to piranhas and other predatory fish. I don't get why that if they decide to feed these animals mice, they don't get mice that have been humanely pre-killed. Oh it's the entertainment value of seeing a live mouse struggle in fear and make escape attempts.

I have two PEW/white mice. I feel if people got to know and interact with mice, they might think differently. My mice come out when I call them, will curl up and sleep on me, chitter and brux happily at me and climb on my hand.
I realize carnivorious animals need to eat, I also hope that people realize these feeder mice do have feelings and don't deserve to be subjected to unnecessary suffering for entertainment value..

I don't think "ALL" was the intention, but more like a few, and a "FEW" does not mean they are all "YOUNG".
I'll repeat for those that read the whole thread and may have overlooked this earlier post. :)

I think everybody is more or less saying the same thing ( except those rebellious babies Nova and Pmtuneman13 LOL, LOL )..

AT Mfk no sensibility gets ofended by live feeding, to each his own, even live feeding captured on film...

Snuff film captured on film is something completely different, as, again, I think we all know...

Tongue33 ( just an example ) has vids of his gars feeding... it does not schock, imo, and those more sensitive just have to ignore those videos...

But we all remember a vid of a silver aro being slowly mauled by a group of rbp's who wouldn't even know how to kill it...that film WAS NOT A FEEDING FILM. THAT FILM WAS A SNUFF FILM..and that is what should, vehemently, be opposed by all of us!!

We of the PCLA....(Pet Cricket Lovers of America) object strongly to the obvious bias shown in the previous post and others on this thread. Vermin need love too.....
