Is this a bubble nest

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was thinking that separating would be the thing to do. Im going to try fasting them tomorow for a day. They eat alot as is right now anyways so im sure it wouldnt hurt. If the fasting doesnt work then Ill seperate them. Theres been some chasing but nothing more then that so far. No bubble nest yet either, he seems to only do it at night.

Well...still no bubble and no different behavior besides some flaring but thats really about it. Im going to seperate them tomorow for a day and see what happens. I just want some babys! lol

lol If only the understood. I seperated them last night and then this morning I put them tank to tank and they male started to furiously 'try' to make a bubble nest under his nest hanger thing but for some reason the bubbles would form. He was doing the motions but no bubbles. Could it be because the filters going? Its not strong enough to make a current though. Hes trying his hardest though.

BUBBLES!! haha I kept them seperated but tank to tank through the night and unplugged the filter, this morning I had bubbles again, yay.

Sounds like he's interested again.

Have you tried the glass chimney method yet? Maybe he isn't appreciating the sudden intrusion and it would be better if he had her already in his tank in a tube before they can interact. Just a thought. I don't know your betta.

Well what he does is he flairs up at her and she kinda turns him down and he gets mad and chases her. Iv placed the whole small plastic tank in the male bettas ten gallon tank and all he did was attack the sides of the small tank. So that didnt do much good. i think the filter was maybe popping his bubbles or something. I would hate to leave the tank with out a filter though

If you add about 30x the betta's mass in plant matter, you won't really need a filter for the short time it takes to spawn a pair of bettas. I'd go with elodea, java moss or water lettuce. These are the easiest and hungriest plants I've encountered and they're now in all my tanks.

Ill have to see what the pet store has...if anything. Theyr living peacefully again with each other. Im just going to leave them that way and see what happens.

Well today I realized how old my male betta was. Hes a year old!! Way to old to be making babies, so today I went and got a new male and put the female and male together with divider and they are infacuated with each other. My old male used to freak out and scare the female now the new male is showing off and not scaring the female so I think this is going to work. I acually think the female is carrying eggs from being with the old male but the old male just wanted her out of his tank more then wanting to breed. Im going to leave them seperated for a day or two though. My old male is now retired to his own home ^-^ Heres a horrible pic of my new male and my female stairing at each other like they have been doing for the past three hours haha
