Is this a death curl?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have seen this with young rays before. They did it when they got scared. Prob the same deal here.

My rays act funny w/ Prime. I would stop using it and go with a simple declorinator. The ray have D/C, Too bad for nice rays

Tank looks pretty empty. Young rays feel safer and will stress less if they have a hiding place. I'd cover the tank with a towel and keep it dark.

Tankmates are 1 pair of 3" pdr sp pups, 1 4" scobina, 2x 3" silver dollars, and an albino pleco which i've been removed. I have keep the tank dark, cover the sides with black film paper, lights off, and doing daily 10 - 15% waterchange.

If your water company uses chlorine, just use Genisis, its cheap & effective

My little Marble was perfect, active and eating, then he started doing that, and died an hour later. All my levels were fine and none of my other fish suffered anything. Rays sometimes seem to just die for no apparent reason.

We dont have such a thing call "Genisis" in here :(. So far I'm using Prime & Tetra Aquasafe.

Same case here, my little marble also was perfect, eating, and active, until it stop feeding for 3 days then died the the next day with it disk curling up and milky film covering its body. :(

ive had the exact thing happen b4. i was doing to many water changes and it sounds like u are too. the water is too fresh for the little pups.

quit doing water changes for about 1 week and i guarantee u they will go back to normal.

ur nitrates are high for doing waterchanges every day. do u have some overly dirty filters?

All water parameters seems fine, just do a waterchange today and tested the water, ph 7.6, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 40. I havent wash my sump filters media for months, i was planning to wash them as i move the pups to 4ft FGT, use back same tank water, filtered with mechanical filter & some bio-media inside, will it be ok to transfer them in such condition?

And today i just realised i got a question to ask, i suspect this is what happen to my ray's death recently. I notice that during cooking time ,let say like 6pm - 7pm and 11am - 12noon, the smoke that comes from the frying pan pass through my tank. My tank is one floor below the kitchen, so during cooking time the smoke goes up to the ceiling and window, then pass through my tank. I just curious will smokes that pass through which comes during cooking time will affect the water parameters? Is it poisonous?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
