Is this a death curl?

My smallest tank is in the kitchen, theres been 3 rays in there for almost a year now and nothing has happened. My kitchen isnt all that big either and the tank is almost right across from the stove, so I dont think that smoke would be a problem.

All water parameters seems fine, just do a waterchange today and tested the water, ph 7.6, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 40. I havent wash my sump filters media for months, i was planning to wash them as i move the pups to 4ft FGT, use back same tank water, filtered with mechanical filter & some bio-media inside, will it be ok to transfer them in such condition?

And today i just realised i got a question to ask, i suspect this is what happen to my ray's death recently. I notice that during cooking time ,let say like 6pm - 7pm and 11am - 12noon, the smoke that comes from the frying pan pass through my tank. My tank is one floor below the kitchen, so during cooking time the smoke goes up to the ceiling and window, then pass through my tank. I just curious will smokes that pass through which comes during cooking time will affect the water parameters? Is it poisonous?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I personally think that u should clean or buy some new filter media, like vamp said u have a overly dirty filter if u notice since your first post your nitrate's have risen :(U should always keep up with cleaning your filter's,to have your filters running for 3 months with no maintenance is not a good idea.

My tank has the same location with u, the tank location is above one floor from the kitchen. So this is not a problem, my guess maybe my dirty filter medias which kill my rays, thanks for the input.

Yes, I'm going to clean those dirty filter media this weekend, im going to transfer all the livestock inside the tank to a 4ft FGT, using back tank water and filtered with mechanical filter only. Thanks bro

Guys, today i just notice that my pearl's under disk has some brown coloured things on the side all around its disk. It is eating greedily though and still do the curling things. Is this what they called a fin rot or just normal spots? Should I be warned?
Thanks:)

The pearls are still doing curling but it is still eating, water parameters are fine, is this a sign of internal parasite attack? Should I quarantine the whole tank and add medication? If should, what kind of medicine can i use? Will Sera Baktopur Direct works? :(:(

Thanks

do you quarantine everything initially? it's a good idea.

Today i was planning to move them all to a 4ft quarantine FGT, filtered by mechanical media and use back 90% of the same tank water. I suspect there has been something wrong with my filtration system, long time never clean all the medias inside ( approx 6 mth never clean ) :(

My questions are:
1. Should i add a medication while they are in quarantine tank? e.g seachem paraguard, sera baktopur direct, etc etc..
2. Or maybe i should just keep doing 15% daily waterchange with water conditioner + salt?
3. Should i add heater to increase the temp? What was the ideal temp during quarantine time?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks MFK :)

just to put it out there but try sum sand or small gravel so ray can bury its self. it my be stress. even my big motors like to bury in gravel from time to time. especially when doing water changes may get spooked good if its feeding tho. good luck.
