Is this a green terror or something else

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the fact is when people say green terror most of the time it is a gold saum . that is why the term "true green terror" is used for the aequidens rivulatus . btw there is a member here who has a real nice tank of "true green terrors" .

Let's just say that you probably won't find a true GT in your local LFS anytime soon. However you can order them from a vendor here on MFK. Look up Jeff Rapps, he is the only one that I know carries them.

From what I've seen (admittedly just pics) I don't see a difference between the Saums and Rivulatus.

the coloration pattern is different.

True Andinoacara rivulatus have never been in the hobby yet according to Alf Stalsbergi, Kullander, and the people that published the scientific descriptions of Andinoacara/A. stalsbergi.

What most people call the 'true green terror' (not sure how you can have 'true' anything with common names) and what has been selling as true A. rivulatus is actually A. stalsbergi (Jeff Rapps has recently changed his stock list to reflect the change, but has not changed the picture page yet ... can't blame him, easy to redo a list, not so easy with links and pics).

Cool trim color.
