what is that striped-spotted fish in the backround?
Do you mean the big one ? It's a Buttikoferi (another poster beat me to it hahaha) There's a smaller one in there which is a Mayan Cichlid.
I shall name my fish The Orange One

When I bought it, I was sold The Orange One, the Buttikoferi, a large Pleco and the mayan Cichlid at the same time. I was told that they were all male (all in the same tank) BUT.....tonight, me and the OH have just watched 'him' laying eggs on a rock after meticulously cleaning it
I actually went and asked in a few branches of a well known aquatics chain if they had any females to go with him but apparently females are very rare, everyone wants one and you'd pay a hell of a lot of money for one
Mind you, the person who sold me all 'male' fish was the same person who sold me a male and female pike cichlid 'pair' .....a few weeks later, Juan turned on Pikey and battered him so hard he lived for about 10 days after before giving up
I feel an urge to gloat to the stores' manager that my 'male' fish has laid a few hundred eggs
