Is this a surinamensis?

Surinamensis tends to be a catch all name used by fish stores for any geo from the altifrons group.
They are very rare in the hobby these days and I believe quite sparse in nature. Unless something has changed recently, true surinamensis have not been imported for over a decade due to political conflict in the area.

Well, they do look to in the altifrons group. Doubt they're true suri. . Regardless they look healthy, and got a steal... my lfs would've charged $40-50 a piece for Geos that size

G. altifrons have a tiny or absent midlateral spot and no markings on the face. Both of these have a large midlateral spot and one appears to have a black stripe on the face. They definitely aren't altifrons, but they aren't surinamensis either because they're essentially non-existent in the states.

Does the one fish have a black mark on its face or is it just a blemish in the photos?

Will this help?
