I haven't been around bichirs for long despite having kept them before but Andri Pogo's insight just made me think it could be that.

There's a previous thread for this.

Just as a warning, if anyone thinks copper sulfate is the option, think twice before you try it. High concentrations of copper can kill your fish more than the parasites can. Most meds have been that way finishing off an infected host faster than the parasites.

WOW. Thanks so much... That was very helpful! So I am supposed to raise the temp to 89 degrees? That seems high. Will he be okay at this temperature? I am still going to invest in some parasite meds and add some salt. Thanks again!

Ok, I just read the post up there again...is this Coppersafe the copper sulfate he was talking about?
It's chelated copper sulfate, different from the unchelated which is more toxic. You still have to be cautious though.

I've had a few WC polys come in with these polychaete worms. I've never been able to pin down the species. However, they all soon disappeared after starting my Q regimen of rift lake salts, elevated temp to 88-89F, and feedings of Wattley's frozen cubes with garlic extract. Remember to boost aeration when elevating the temp.

oh nvm
