Is this Anchor Worm?

Don't use coppersafe! Not worth the risk.

There is a very inexpensive med that works just fine for treating these parasites.

Look for Jungle Labs: Parasite Clear, I've seen it in the fish aise at every wal-mart, or you can get it online. Each box (appx $3) treats 80 gallons.

Kills the parasites within minutes, and erradicates them within hours.

I use it on all wild caught bichirs I get.

I agree with cohazard I bought a bichir that brought that into my tank I think they are skin flukes anyways jungle labs parasite clear cleared them up within 24 hours I medicated twice as I have read they can come back sometimes. Also I had to aerate my water more as some of my fish were gasping for breath after medicating.

Bizbomb brings up a good point, make sure to add an air stone or some other method for increasing aeration of the water, especially if you have fish other than polypterus.

Okay, I bought the Jungle Parasite Clear. Put it in...tinted the water an odd color...is that normal? Just checking... I know when I was younger and had my oscar, I had to treat for ich in the beginning and it tinted the water red, but I just want to make sure that this is ok. Thanks.

If it tinted it green, you bought the wrong meds. Jungle Labs: Fungus Clear makes the water green.

Parasite clear IME doesn't tint the water, maybe an ever so light yellow, but not much.

oh alright, then that's normal. I don't remember it being noticeable in the tank (only in the bucket when I pre-dissolved it).

Your bichirs should already have lost that 'fuzzy' look to them by now.

FishGoneWild always does a 15min dip with parasite clear on all bichirs he gets from any source. That's a good tip I got from him.
