is this driftwood

out here in Arizona, i use mesquite wood that i've found baking in the sun for a while...i use HOT HOT water and pour over it in a kiddie pool and let it soak...takes about a week to sink and does turn the water color based on the amount of tannins left in it...you could do the same with yours

You can still use it more then likely just need to prep it. If it were to fall in the lake and get carried to the other side and you found it then it would be driftwood. So therefore just because it didn't travel across the lake doesnt mean you can't use it.

I would say its safe....When i was up in northern Michigan i found a couple pieces in a drained pond that looked a lot like that. Although they had to be weighed down with rocks they looked nice. just know that your water will turn a slight yellow.

Brush it good with a grill brush. All would will become soft when submerged in water for long enough. You just want to make sure to getting any pieces off that are rotten thats why I suggest the brush.

well i dont have no grill brushed and i used HOT HOT boilign water from the stove 2 times and dumped it over the wood. is that fine and i dont see now rotten pieces but if some do show up in the tank will that kill my fish?

Get a brillo pad or steel wool and srub the whole chunk

If you can't drive yourself wait until you grandparents can take you to the store like walmart or were ever and get something to scrub it with. Its better to wait and do that then to have rotten decaying wood in your tank.

I got my grill brush for like 2 something at wallmart and the other things mentioned would be about the same price or cheaper
