If it's already in the state then there is no reason he can't pick it up and enjoy it. Probably better it's someone from here that knows how to be responsible with the fish and not let it go in a lake or something.

Also xander, you really should work on getting that stick removed from your ass.

alright, let's assume i have something up my ass, and lets assume you're not promoting irresponsible not to mention illegal behaviour. humor me, tell- no wait, spell out for me how my post can in any context be considered anal.

getting back on the topic, in response to the statement in red: yeah, much better that the gar is going to a responsible owner who cannot tell if what he has is even a lepisoteid(no offence to the op, i just felt this point was a good response to the statement in red).

Justin since its not a real gar just take it to the pet store I bought it from in Dublin and get the $40 i paid for it back, say they ripped you off. I honestly thought it was a gar

even though its not a gar i kinda like him, i think i'll keep him.

bad xander! bad spatula!!
now u to need to go sit in the corner and make up! now dammit!
group hug!

kind of ebbs and flows.

the hard line of the matter is that it's the encouragement of keeping illegal fishes (regardless of whether they are "already here in the state" or otherwise) that strongly contributes to legislation that means to ban tropical fish importation in general.

when you advocate keeping illegal fish, you are hurting your own hobby, as well as the hopes that the fishes may even be legalized, etc.--

exactly...furthermore buying illegal fishes only encourages shops to bring more in. same mentality goes to buying illegal wildlife goods...or any (illegal) goods for that matter
