I have 2 110 gallon hang on backs from aquaclear. I have a 180 gallon tank. Both of them together they hsould be good for up to a 220 right ? I have a frontosa, jag and ID shark. All around a foot.

Yes, but I'd get another AC110 or better yet a canister filter. I heard ID Sharks produce quite a bit of waste, especially when bigger.

Heres a pretty cheap and good canister for the price, http://truaqua.com/aquatop-canister-filter-cf-500uv.html

I agree with clownknife def get another hob or a canister. You'd only need a small canister if you continue to run the hobs... I run a fluval 406 on my 55 gallon African tank.

Why not just test your water parameters/ They will let you know if you have enough biological filtration. You should be able to tell by sight if the mechanical filtration is suffice.

how long have you had the tank setup and what is your substrate?

I agree with Bderick, you should be testing your tank water. I would test it daily for 2-4weeks then decide if you need another hob or something bigger.

tanks been set up for 6 months. Made a rookie mistake, Needed to move tank out an inch to get the hob filter in place so did a 75% water change and put on new filters. Ive lost 2 tinfoil barbs and tanks a white cloudy. Hopefully It levels out soon

I believe you're not supposed to do more than a 50% wc on an established tank, because you can lose beneficial bacteria. Did you test your water yet?

So you ditched the FX5 and went with two new AC110s? Did you at least move some of the media from the FX5 to the new filters?

Very little of the BB is free floating, changing large volumes(over 50%) is not harmful to the bacteria colonies within the system.

Yea took all the bio media n put them into the new filters. I lost my 3 6inch tinfoil barbs before the tank level'd out again.
