Is this HITH?

HITH is a syndrome not just a straight infection. Water quality and diet are beleived to have a lot to do with it. you can try feeding some veggies and use a vitamin supplement. Also what are you nitrates

so I have been doing daily water changes (over 70%) now for over a week and my nitrates are below 5 all the time now, mostly looks to be 0. The spot is not getting deeper or bigger or changing at all. He is still active as ever and eating great. Shows great coloration and continues to act normal.

Maybe it will take months? I don't know if this is hith or not but with how I maintain his tank I highly doubt it was due to water quality or diet. No stress, idea temps, quality food, ect ect.

Help me out here... what could it be? how does a spot exist for months and not change in anyway?

he gets veggies in his diet too. unless he is in the light you can hardly notice it exists.

I think I just figured out what the root cause could be. Back in the beginning of May, Kai hurt himself on some wood in the tank. see here: https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/oh-dear-he-hurt-himself.686798/

Looking back at when I first notice this mark on his head in around that same time (shortly after to be more accurate). I guess its possible its due to the stress of the injury and the hith formed? but since I treated and again am now doing a second round to be sure, maybe its not getting any worse and just taking its time to heal.

Is that possible?

The wound near his eye did heal very quickly though and he never been an issue since so that does kind of make me wonder.

all i see are sensory pits, all cichlids have them. more noticeable in larger cichlids.

see a little white spot back a bit, sure not just a small scrape? in either way treatment the same, for me its pristine water, at all times. good quality pellets, low stress and time.

to expand a bit the best way to clear up HITH is to give the fish optimum conditions, given a healthy none stressed fish his own immune system will fight it off. I have seen fish in very very bad HITH condition heal up just fine. lotsa scaring yes but healed up just fine with the just a good diet, pristine water quality and low stress.

and time, takes a long time for them to get it, and takes a long time for them heal from it.
