A few quick points:
1. I don't see anything wrong with housing a fish for a while and then giving/selling it to someone who can properly house it.

2. This doesn't seem to apply to you, but I think that people should be very cautious when they assume that someone will want to take their fish. There really aren't that many people who can house a full-grown RTC, for example, but there are probably a lot of people trying to get rid of an RTC.

3. The fact that your dad drives a really expensive car does not prove that finances are not an issue for whatever project you may have. Lots of people who drive expensive cars aren't financially stable, sometimes because they drive cars they can't afford.

4. Even if finances aren't an issue, it doesn't mean that your folks want a pond in their house. Or perhaps finances are fine, but they won't want to spend what it's going to take to install a nice pond. Yes, ponds can be built very cheaply. But if your parents have a very nice house, they probably don't want to plunk a plywood pond in the middle of it. Installing something nice is going to cost a lot of money. Even if they have it, I wouldn't just assume that they'll want to spend it on that.

5. I'm sorry, but for some reason I find it incredibly distasteful for you to post a picture of your dad's car to prove that finances aren't an issue.

yes i knew id get a response like that. it really doesn't mean much. i'm always tired of people telling me(on this forum) that something would be to expensive for me to maintain. my parents are very supportive of my hobbies and will pay for things like food and housing if i can show dedication to this hobby. i thought that i would post a pic a my dads car because its a default to get an idea that expenses of feeding are not an issue which someone had asked about on this thread. also, i see your point on the fact that it doesn't mean my parents are finical stable. just for example, my dad is the CEO of an international metal business that is successful. he has offices in amsterdam and dubai if this makes a difference. i'm just sort fed up w/ people telling me i can't afford anything when its really my parents who pay(and don't mind). i hope this clears things up. also, on the fish side of this topic, thats the reason i would not pic an rtc. they seem way harder to rehome and are something i would not bother with. I've also seen a recent trend in folks taking in tsn rescues and there are occasionally people looking for them in the mfk marketplace. sorry for bothering you.

Don't worry about the people putting you down based on the fact they don't know how financially stable you or your family are... if you know you can afford it, then ignore those who don't believe you can afford it, and instead just document said build / project and post it up and they'll eat their words...

Although i do agree, just coz some one has a nice car doesn't mean they are financially stable... i know a lot of people in this town who basically put all their money into luxury items (such as cars) they can't really afford, and because of said luxury item end up being constantly late on rent payments etc... although in this town a lot of people like to think that by wearing / using all the most expensive items, they will naturally become rich or at least be perceived as rich (even if they can barely scrape by)...

You will get attached to all your fish...so later you might not want to give it away :P
