No, not just uneducated, you can tell that they have never bred nor raised feeders before.

This thread would have been alot shorter too, if some would have read it completely before posting.

This could have been a sticky, either way it worked out, if it wasn't for all the garbage.

koop171, keep us posted,

agreed, i just hate when someone comes up with a pretty decent idea due to a location issue, just to be de-railed. if the man wants to keep feeders , let him !!

could not have said it better myself.

Have any pictures of the RBPs at feeding time?

not yet i am loking into geting a good digtal video cam but don't have the moey right now i can make one with my digital picture cam but the quality isn't the greatest hopefully i can make one soon but idk how long that will be

ok its now day two i decided i will test the water everyday (if i can) for this first week

today i got

pH = 7.6 this has stayed constant and is the same that i get out of my RBP thank when i test it so i am happy with this
Ammonia = 1 down from a 4 yesterday a did 50% waterchange and added more ammonia remover to the FX5
nitrite = 1 same as yesterday
nitrate = 10 also same as yesterday

i had a few more deaths 12 to be exact BUT i do not think this was water quality driven i have found that golds a pretty dumb and will stick around the inlet of the FX5 and since it is so powerful they get tired of swimming against it and give up so i put a little DIY screen to cover the back half of the inlet (that is where most of the dead are for some reason) hopefully this will keep them away from the back and if anything it will be easier to clean when there are dead

deathrate from the initail 500 so far is now at 5.8% with a total of 29

i think that i am going to switch my feeder stock if the death rate stays up due to the FX5 inlet i will more then likly go to the med comets insted that way i can do bigger fish that have a better chance of fighting the current also this will intal a small overall stock 1000 meds. WILL not work lol i know that allready if i go with the meds. i think the stock will be in the ballpark of 500 TOPS more then likly less also with larger feeders i can feed less at a time and hopefully strech out my stock for alonger periods

i am not 100% on switching over to the meds. b/c they are more costly ( i can get 50 for 10$ i think) and no one LFS has a stock big enough for me to take i will have to order these i am pretty sure

well thats all i got today and ill get back with u guys later tommorow hopefully with pics of the sponge filters they should be here tommorow :headbang2

hey glad its working out tried it with rosie reds and i didnt work out so well, then again i wasnt having a thousand and wasnt using a 75 tank glad its going well.

The 125 is overstocked as well...
Anyone want to help me out with the name of the substance in goldfish that stunts growth? Thiaminase or something like that?

I was losing small fish and snails to filter inlets for awhile in one of my tanks. I recommend connecting a sponge filter to the inlet. You get a little extra filtration and a second chance for fish to get at food before its gone. Oh, it diffuses the current too.
I dont remember the exact name of the growth inhibitor but I dont think it really matters since he's using them as feeders. This is ofcourse if he's thinking of it as a holding tank and not as a breeding tank.
