1000 feeders in a 75 is way overstocked. The reason a fish store can keep so many is because....they come in every week and sell constantly also the water is changed very often. When I worked at Tropical Lagoon we changed the feeder water twice weekly (50%). We had two large fiberglass vats that were about 150 gallons each. We would put 500 med and 500 lg in every week.

I am not trying to give you a hard time but I think that you should consider this info.

It is a good idea to look at feeder tank as you would a regular tank. You can stock it a bit higher because you will be feeding out of the stock but the load will remain high. Also if you are gut loading the feeders you will be basically overfeeding an overstocked tank.

next time get a 1000 'fancy guppies'

why would i do that lol when i got my 500 today i looked at the fancys and they ran around 3.50 each i got my golds for .08 and they are 3Xs as big don't make alot of sence to me but a tank with 1000 fancys would look sweet lol

ok a little less then 24 hours later and this is what i got

deaths in first 24 hours= 7 (only lost in transport) death rate still only 1.4%

Water Perameters

pH = 7.6 (this was the same from initial setup on 3-10)
Ammonia = 4ppm (up from .5ppm on 3-10)
Nitrite = 1ppm (up from 0 on 3-10)
Nitrate = 10ppm (up from 5ppm on 3-10)

Feeding

they are eating great (must not have gotten feed well in LFS, no suprize there) i have feed a considerable amount and it allways gets eaten the bare bottom helps out here b/c they can find the food when it makes it to the bottom better

Mantanance

When the test were done on 3-10 i have done nothing to the aquarium since no water change or change in filter media so almost two weeks have gone by with no care if u want toput it that way tonight they will be getting there first water change (50%or more) and the FX5 will be taken out and cleaned also i am going to remove all zeo-carb i have in the FX5 and fill both the top and middle baskets with ammonia remover

if i find anything interesting during FX5 cleaning i will post up some more pics
also i will repost tomorrow with the new water peramters after the mantance tonight is done and the tank has had a couple of hours to settle back in

Sounds like youre cycling. Hopefully that ammonia drops and your nitrates jump up more soon.

good to see your tank with all the fish in it,

i just wish we could buy feeder fish here in the uk,

due to it being illigal in the uk to sell live fish as food, it keeps the price of normally guppies an others up.

today i started my tank 5 female and 2 male guppies :)
