Is this pool filter sand?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks guys, and yeah the shipping is a bit much, but oh well. The reason I was asking if it was pool filter sand is because it looks pretty coarse.
I might have to get it, unless anyone knows where to find pool filter sand in Central Ohio.

i was told not to use silica based sand with rays. dont know about other fish though. do you not have pool and hot tub stores in ohio?

That's what I was worried about, since I was considering rays. We do have pool supply stores, but I've only found one, and they're currently closed for a while. I guess I'll have to look around a little bit more.
Thanks all.

I thought so too.
I'll have to check out some the places around here.
Thanks!

Okay guys, just another quick question.
I went to a pool supply place yesterday, and they did have some pool filter sand. It was not silica-based, but it dids contain some crystalline silica. Would it be possible to wash the sand, or maybe sift through it, and separate the silica from the other sand?

i would just look around rather than sifting the sand..IMO
