Hi
I ordered 5 fishes coming next week. They are Malawi Haps sized at 4.5 inch, 5.5 inch, 7+, 6+ and 5 inch. Would a 55 gallon tank be sufficient for QT?

Is 4 weeks to long for these size in a 55? Should I doze PraziPro during QT?

Thank you

Seems sufficient

Sadly seen large fish living in a 55g...

Your talking 5 fish... all 7” or less...

Can’t speak to the meds, I usually don’t medicate unless indicated... others may chime in with their practices..

That would be very sad. I am even concern for 4 weeks. I am debating if I just add them to the main tank but too much money invested in my main to take the risks. Wish I have something bigger for QT.

My biggest concerns are these are all predator haps, hope they are not going to tore each other apart in a 55 foe four weeks.

Ok, thanks, I read a lot and am getting mixed messages. Some say med regardless because the disease might not show until in the DT after 4 weeks. Some say don’t med unless sign of disease.

I agree with Dr Exum, I don't medicate unless I have some understanding of what I'm medicating for.
A 55 should work, although I quarantine at least double that time.
Certain diseases don't present in only 4 weeks, simple diseases like ick yes, but many other more complicated diseases to treat , no.

All exochrOmis anagenys?
LOL, no, but I found a 5+ adult, plus a Venustus, trout, EyeBiter and Bucco Noto. My wife didn’t agree with my idea of all female and wanted a Placidochromis Mdoka White Lips tank, so the 125 will be for that.

The other 125 was sold so I didn’t get it. I got a 55 for QT instead and will keep looking for another 125 while working on the 300. However, I am debating now if the 300 is worth the money since I can’t fit the 96” through the door, I have to go with a 300 deep. Then I can go with a 180 or 240 instead, whatever has better deal.

So QT for 8 weeks. Do you raise the heat or just leave temp at 76? Also, add Epsom Salt invade of bloat?

Oh by the way, WWIII broke out all of sudden in my current tank today. Got so minor fin nips and some very minor scrapes on two fish. Took me a little time and found out my 5 inch Moorii is a female. Had the egg tube dropped. I bet it out and temporary put it with the peacocks but I am sure it will cause war in that tank as well. I had it for so long and never notice it.
