Is using hot water from tap bad?

Just run the hot for a moment to clear out any copper, etc. After the first blast of water, the concentrations of dangerous metals are undetectable.

Depends on how "hot" you're talking.

Really hot water weakens your seams on glass/silicone sealed tanks. That's typically why you're told not to do it. The silicone softens and the glass blows off.

I also use some hot water. I notice that if I use pure cold water the water comes out clear and for some reason my hot water looks kind of cloudy. Any ways I use both hot and cold with no ill effects.

That's probably because hot water has less capacity for dissolved gases, so some gas comes out as fine bubbles; i.e., cloudiness.

Water heaters are glass-lined, and shouldn't result in alot of dissolved metals in the water.
