Is your lil KOK a problem? Lol

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Lets the genes kick in, it matters all on the genes. But quality food, clean water, filtration and good water perameters make a HUGE diffrence too. Your flowerhorn looks like a female to me, that dark spot on the top fin. Females wont grow a huge kok, most of the time none at all. Maybe just alittle bump.

potential comes from genetics, but generally the more fish it is dominant over the bigger kok it will grow. it gets bigger after every time winning a fight. so you can condition them like this if you are careful otherwise you will get a lot of dead dither cichlids. Hand training them also helps the head grow. every time my midas males would have a good time playing with me their head would grow/fill with water

a little mirror time every couple days helps too but too much will cause it to shrink. by the way I see you have your fh with other fish... if it has the potential it will never grow a kok if it is not the dominant fish in the tank. Breeding helps too... the reduce size at first and then once the babies are grown they will be proud parents having completed the deed and the trailers and head will grow bigger than they were before. Also keeping them outside helps for some reason. But then again, if yours is indeed a female (which it could be from that picture) it may never grow a large head.

Supposedly the original spelling was Gouk, pronounced like Coke.

...it was later made into KOK, meaning King Of Kings...but Whatever and Whatever. Its Flowerhorns, we can do and say whatever we like.

Of many people dont like wiki, its good info...notice all the different types of names given to strains at the very bottom of the wiki page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flowerhorn_cichlid And even nowadays people come up with crazy names. You can even cross your own breeds and name it yourself, and if the fish is beautiful and consistent then the name will carry on.
