I just remembered this. About two years ago, before I was a Monsterfishkeeper, I wanted to give away 4 Giant Danios. I went to Petsmart and offered it to them. They refused to take them, even for free, because of the risk of disease transmission. They referred me to an lfs that takes fish, I traded them for credit there. I work for that store now. I was just browsing the tanks today at Petsmart, and the Danios had ick. My fish that I offered to donate were probably healthier than the stock they had at the time.
Isn't it ironic? Petsmart return policy

That is exactly what is ironic. My fish were in perfect shape. I traded them to a reputable dealer, which I now work for. They can't even keep their stock healthy without the disease ridden customer trade ins. My fish were better off that they said no.
I once donated a CK to them. They told me I couldn't get anything for it because they couldn't sell it. They were just going to put it in their display tank in the break room...I come in 2 weeks later and they were selling him for $40

Probably put it up for sale because it was chowing down on all the display fish. LOL
