Dixon is right - Asking IS research in its own right. And what's more enjoyable, reading those dull articles, or engaging with other fish lovers and sharing info? I, for one, would have asked the same question at some point.

Cichla - Sorry, but I disagree. Most people would not even know that a 24" TSN could DIE from eating such a small fish. (Thanks to those spines and all.)
I also disagree that MFK is "FOR" seasoned hobbyists. How are we supposed to encourage THE hobby, without newbies? But those aren't what I was addressing in my thread.

hmm I thought the 5 post rule was done away with.....I referred somebody and they said they could see pics and I don't think they've made a single post yet (freakin slacker) I kinda thought maybe that's why weren't seeing the absolutely sensless posts anymore. There are still some though 
I think most of us are on the same page... so let's be nice to newbies and newb questions

I read through the thread, and the responses are not as bad as you are making them sound, santoury. I expected the noob to get torn apart, but all it was is a few jokes.
I'm not trying to boil your blood santoury, but I do want to share my perspective too. It sounds to me like you're being too sensitive about the subject, I mean, as long as nobody was outright insulting Roel (the noob for those who haven't read the other thread), then what's the big deal?
In fact, the over-the-top reaction helps to get across a clear image of why the combo wouldn't work. It may not be how you would choose to convey the answer, but it's not wrong for others to do so.
what better way to learn then get bashed when asking? makes a person think more before they ask, or read more before they ask. most questions asked these days are more then obvious and shouldn't be asked.

Keep in mind, also, that NONE of us are truly "Pro's" - All of us are newbies in some sense. Example: I don't know much at all about certain areas of MFK keeping, and I'm bound to ask some questions that may seem stupid to you, too.
