I moved my larger pair to a 55 gallon tonight, but the male seems to be too aggressive (as you can see from the third picture) so I may have to separate them.

A couple shots of my yellow labs, pretty cool to see they're finally showing color.

Luv those istlanums. Thanks for posting.

Very nice collection of rare cichlids:) they look stunning. are they wild caught?
Do you know the sex of the labs yet? mojo recently bred his pair they have amazing breeding dresses, like all herichthys:)

Thanks guys.

davidefc, I'm not sure of the sex of the yellows yet, but they are wild caught. I have two that are starting to show color, hopefully I can get at least a pair out of the group. It's that time of the year and fish want to breed, I just noticed my bartonis laid eggs. Hopefully the istlanums do the same.

You have a nice taste for cichlids, i have herichthys pantostictus and carpintis. i was going to go for some bartoni'sbut didnt due to they are prone to bloat so iam getting grammodes insted.....have you had any problems with yours? i was going to get them from conkel. also what size are they?

Thanks, those pantos are very cool and super aggressive IME. I lost a couple bartonis due to bloat a few weeks ago and in my opinion they're pretty delicate. For some reason the problems came after feeding them frozen food (bloodworms and brine shrimp). I did'nt think it would be a problem since that's part of all my other fish's diet. I now feed them very lightly flakes and anti-parasite medicated fish food to avoid problems. I don't see them eat, but they must be eating it.
