It’s finally happening, but it’s actually happening

Do you need to prune and trim any of the submerged plant growth periodically?
I do prune off the yellow dying leaves, but thats just for aesthetics.
The pond looks very clear mate. Nice one. Doesn’t seem to be much flow on the water fall. Is it turned off atm? How many gph is your pond pump?
It is turned very low at the moment. I have two outputs; the waterfall and this DIY pvc manifold thing (there are some pictures earlier in the thread). I can choose what ratio of water goes to the waterfall v manifold, I set it more towards the manifold during feeding time so i can see them eat. As for gph, im not sure exactly, but I have a PentAir Superflo VST with variable speed, which means I can change the gph pumped, and the ‘speed’ is 2500 currently. I am not sure what that translates to in gph tho, as that represnts the speed not gph

Beautiful day after the rains here! Im trying out Barley Straw as preventative string-algae control, as far as i understand it releases something similar to hydrogen peroxide that prevents string algae from growing, not sure how well it works, but might as well try.
If you need more, I have a bunch. Come get'em. FREE99IMG_6817.jpeg

kendragon kendragon , does that stuff work as advertised? I've read about its use many times but never really came across much of an explanation for it. Is it legit? Is it used as a filter medium that requires water to be flowed through it, or is it just tossed in and allowed to perform its magic?

I'm kinda sorta thinking that if you are giving it away, it's not doing what you hoped it would?

You try to do something nice and get suspected of dumping trash in someone's backyard.

Kinda sorta. I'm clean out my garage so I'm throwing away stuff. Got several big bags of zeolite too. I use to be in the koi show crowd but not anymore.

Got new vortec seattling chamber, big 8 feet japanese koi nets, bottom drains, 8 cases of ball valves and check valves andIMG_6818.jpeg 6 new pond pumps but those are not free.

My sincere apologies, I didn't mean to sound that way. I've given away lots of stuff that, while certainly functional and useful, simply didn't quite fit my way of doing things. Nothing wrong with that, and I did not mean to imply otherwise.

My question stands, though. Thanks for the clarification provided regarding the recommended methods of using this stuff, by reproducing the instructions. I'm simply curious if this product falls into the same category as the Mela-whatever quasi-medications, or perhaps multi-vitamins for humans. Some swear by 'em and others swear at 'em.

A naturalistic answer to a common aquarium or pond problem has a lot of appeal for me, so I'm just hoping to hear the opinion of someone who's been there and done that and knows what he's talking about.
