It’s finally up and running.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sweet. Just my two cents worth but if you stick with the 3 GF and your dojos, plant it heavily, it'd be an easy to balance amd maintain system. If you go 5 GF you can manage it but its more work. If you are keeping multiple systems you want to keep individual tanks as low maintenance as possible or, as previously mentioned, you will burn out.
Yes I’m wanting to keep these tank rather stocked lightly as my 75 gallon is stocked on the heavy side so I’m giving it the most attention. I can handle another high maintenance tank but I think that’s about my limit for now as I’m doing my water changes with a python. That second high maintance tank is the discus tank.
If I wanted to push myself to the limit and risk burning out I would have gotten the extra two 55 gallons but I know my limits.

Yeah, definetly going to be my next freshwater project. My next peoject is upgrading my reef from a 10 gal to a 40B.
Impressive, you’re 3 years younger than me and have a sw tank while I’m not planning to go sw until 3 more years haha.

The stand is incredibly flimsy when there’s nothing on it but don’t worry because is much more sturdy once you put a tank on it. Putting just a tank on the top is not a smart idea because it could tip over but putting a tank only on the bottom is a better idea. What you want to do is put a tank on bottom then on top and it will be incredibly sturdy.
Also by the way when I said it was very flimsy when nothing is on it I meant it, a baby could pull it over.
Make sure the stand is perfectly level. I had a 75 gallon tank on the bottom of a stand just like that with no tank on the top, and it started leaking after several months. I don't think all 4 corners of the tank were equally supported.

The black board serves two functions. One of which is to spread the weight over an additional two feet and the second is to help it level out. I’ll get out the level before I put on the other 55 gallon.

Thanks , yeah, I am running two currently. One piece of advice, when you do go salt do not start with a 10 gal, bad idea.My cycle took almost two months. I did a lot of research before starting my tank up, I had a few problems with starting the tank, but I think the main ones were caused by bad tank placement and the fact that I started with a 10 gal.

Yeah my plan is to go with either a 75 gallon or a 180 gallon, both are big enough to handle a few rookie mistakes.

Is the canister in the corner the FX5 you did a unboxing thread on?
It was an fx6 and no, this is a cascade 1,000 which has been on my 75 gallon for at least two months so it’s cycled.
Also on the topic of the fx6 I’m going to return it and get another one.
