It would have ben 600 gallons but they dident make 96" tanks so i got 72"

New pics when friends leave. We are building the stand first because we dont have any darn stuff to put it together so we have to order it. like aqarium silicone or w.e...

its 72x48x36

That's 540 gallons and will weigh 4498 pounds (water only).

Umm we ran into a problem... how is the tank glued together, like Do we place the 4 acrylic sheets ontop of the bottom peice or along the side of it? because we are gona have to do some eaxtra cutting either way.

To cut a truly perfectly straight line, measure the distance from the edge of your saw blade to the edge of the saw deck. It is crucial to be exact. Now mark this measurement plus the amount to be cut off on the piece of acrylic to be cut. Mark it on both ends. Now take another piece of acrylic and clamp it along these two measurements. Before cutting, verify that the blade is exactly at the distance that needs to be cut off. When you cut the acrylic, the straight edge of the other piece will ensure a perfect cut.

Like I told you in the PM dude...you might want to get a pro in to do this job...this is a big tank.

You should have looked into this earlier...this was the first thing I looked into when I got my tank built...

I charge a hundred bucks an hour :naughty:

By the way, the front piece of acrylic should overlap the sides, bottom and top. This way as the tank is viewed the seams are not evident.

Its not that we dident know what to do, its just we wondered why it wasent done the other way. I should have said it how i ment sorry. The cameras outside so i'll upload the tank stand today. Tomorrow we will finish cutting the top. The stand wont be done untill the tank is. Because we want to get the w/d and pipes in place before we add the finishing peices. We will have 2 openings in the front of the stand (4 doors) they will have handles and everything and the sides will have plywood. We dont know what color we are gona paint it yet though.

It's actully not that hard to build it so far. I'm just worried about the drilling the 2" hole :(.
We also are going to order the glue tomorrow and have them overnight it.

PICS IN THE MORNING!

Top of the stand or tank? If you haven't cut the top of the tank, don't cut the corners square. Square corners are what is known as stress risers, i.e. they consentrate stresses in the material at a finite point. If it is not too late, use your two inch hole saw and cut four holes for the corners. Then use a jig saw to finish the cuts. That way you will have round corners with two inch radii.

Dude I sooooo would have just bought a tank... That away when something goes wrong I can blame someone else. lol

Or would have built a plywood tank.. Not as nice but imo easier..
