Cant we just buy a battery powered airator?, much cheaper than a generator and keeps the fish alive when the power goes off.

If you want to put the lives of fish that cost $400+ each on an air pump then go for it.

If you're in Texas, it's time to plug your heater in again... We get the rolling brownouts in summer, though.

Same with Oz. Getting into summer, the grids get overloaded. Anyone after a generator ? I sell them!!! free power for me! !

Never heard of much overloding anyway. The biggest problem for me are bushfires. 2nd to that would be my house falling down. Its on stilts.

wow that sucks for you guys who have no power for like a week, i have never lost power for more than a day and a half, i even had power the day after my basement got flooded from hurricane floyd back in '99.

Move to Scotland! Don't think we've had any power cuts for 20 years....... The only time that you lose power here is trees or storms knocking the lines down, but even that's quite rare. I live in the city, so even that's not a concern. Good luck to you all....

it won't keep the tanks warm, and you can't hook it up to the hot water heater to do water changes (assuming your tap water pipes are pressurised). also, there's a pretty good chance that if a bad storm is coming, stores are going to sell out of batteries fairly quickly. you'd have to keep quite a back-up supply.

lol, in miami we worry about keeping the water cool. If anything power outages here result in tanks overheating
