Try to keep your rockwork as open as possible, it helps with dead spots, keeping your fish in the open, and ironically providing more shelter for them.

My brother and I have both used masonry drill bits to drill holes in LR and zip tie them together...very stable, and you can create some wacky stuff. Did this for my 125g pred tank. I am warning you though, minatus are cave dwellers, and they will lodge themselves into the smallest holes they can find, and then dart out for food. This is why I would suggest making the rock work simple and "open".

I couldn't agree more. Never ever saw him except feeding. Same with the eel actually. Especially with those big rock pieces you have in there. The eel will just chill in the back, you will be lucky to even see its head.

Also, I would make sure your tank is good and cycled. It usually is not a good idea to start a tank with such a large fish, so watch your ammonia very closely and be ready to do big water changes.

If you plan on keeping all that rock pressed against the back way I would at least put a small powerhead in one corner underneath the rock that blows along the back pane of the tank. This will keep water flowing back there and limit the build up of nutrients that will cause nitrate headaches.

how big is yours? and no matter what I do my sponge filter keeps trying to float up so I had to trap it under the cords in my tank to keep it down. Yours looks very nice
the sponge filter just has a heavy base thats all and it stays down very well, just got my first eel last friday:D check it out :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNfb8aAxp1c

Nice looking tank. I would really like to have a nice eel setup someday.

I got into salt about a year ago with a 20 long and I upgraded to my current 72 bowfront even though I still have both running. I haven't regretted the decision to change from fresh even a second. I find salt so much more interesting and I find myself staring at small areas of the tank for extended periods of time because I will always notice something new.

Hey I'm curious about your 72.....do you have a sump running? I have a 72 too and I'm thinking of getting rid of my seaclone skimmer and fluval fx5 to get a sump/Reef Devil Skimmer.

Do you have pics of your current 125 gallon preds tank?
