It's not impossible to mix a oscar with a hybrid

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm really starting to wonder if anyone knows what he is.

With the constant hybridizing done by hobbyist and mislabeling of fish at LFS, we'll probably never be able to actually give a 100% correct ID.

For what its worth, I really don't think its a rainbow cichlid, and agree that it looks like its a parachromis hybrid of some sort.

I can definitely see that in him or some sort of jaguar, I knew from day 1 that he was mixed

What about Parachromis Loisellei? Or Yellow Jacket Cichlid. Both parachromis, but to put an exact look to it, I would say them. For reference, this is Parachromis Loiselloi. Same fins, color, and head hump.

Definitely a parachromis hybrid. Salvini wouldn’t be so striped and should have some more color. Simply to big, mean, and off shapen for a rainbow.

View attachment 1449349 as u can see they are both there with the eggs some have started to turn color or a tea or brown color. The jack dempsey is a weird hybrid we bout from pet co pretty sure that he's mixed with a jaguar. An the mother is the oscar the other fish can't get near either one the jack attacks them. Even her at times.
Personally what I think ya got the isn't even part jack dempsey. Honestly I think your hybrid here may be a JagHorn, a.k.a. a Jaguar cichlid x Flowerhorn cross. They're not too common in the hobby but they are still made. Here's a pic of another JagHorn to compare with.
