I've about had it with these fish

Cause he's the one who beat her up

It's your fault for not putting the divider in well enough. Any time a fish in my tanks maul or kill another fish, it's my fault, not the fish's.

Here's a tip - I assume you're using egg crate. Buy some 1" PVC for like $2.00. Cut a strip lengthwise down the PVC that you can stick the egg crate into, and drill a couple holes in the PVC that you can stick some suction cups in. Add suction cups and install.

Separate tanks they won't be able to spawn.

In case you are not familiar with spawning behavior...throwing any male & female together does not always result in a "breeding pair".

- Sometimes they fight...and will never breed.
- Sometimes they fight to "test" each other...to see if the mate is suitable to breed with.
- Sometimes the male will beat up on the female AFTER laying of eggs & the fry have hatched.
- Lip-locking can be misinterpreted. This can sometimes mean fighting...but it is actually also part of the mating process (can stimulate mating).
- Or they can pair up...and be a totally compatible happy couple!:)

So it's always possible that due to the natural behavior of the fish...almost anything can happen. But blaming the fish is the last thing to do.

Dividers must be really secure or they simply fall down as you have seen.
I zip tie horizontal pieces to the bottom, put perpendicular vertical pieces on the side, and weigh them down with heavy rocks. I also cut notches on top to jam into the upper frame. And as suggested , zip the top to the brace, and bacr with PVC for particularly strong fish.

It's all them in one tank. try lots of hiding holes and caves for her.
