How do you plan on lighting it? my 500g is 8' x 4' x 25" and I feel like the two 48" T5 units aren't able to cover the 4' width. Looking for new ideas.

get 6' T5 units, they have 8 tubes rather than 4 on each unit.

Order 48" fixture from catalina, they have up to 8 bulbs in 4ft fixtures or you can order custom ones that has a wide fixture with less bulb. this way you don't ended with too much bulbs and turn the water into an algae soup.
or you can request multiple on/off switch so you can control how many bulbs you want on or off. can time them in a way to get similar effect as from sun rise to sun set.
they make all the light in house so custom ones won't be too expensive compare to their standard fixtures.
you can also hang the light instead of let it sit on top of the tank so you get more coverage.

THE PROGRESSION BEGINS..............

Construction of the fish room.... ( will have day to day progress )
Day 1........ Materials are all paid for... but not all has been picked up because of a late start and store hours conflicting with pick up and drop off runs..

i have 2 doors, 15pc drywall, 4 windows, stucco cements on WILL CALL... All is paid off and ready for pick up tomorrow...
enclosement of the patio for my dedicated fish room starts 10hrs & counting.....

( Heres a few pics of whats gonna be closed off and whats gonna be considered a ADD ONN to MI CASA!!!! )
