looks great alberto.... how is the water temp holding up???

Hi Nic

Nights are cold 12/13ºC and during the day the temperature is about 20ºC. But inside the GreenHouse things are very well because there’s Sun. The tank/pond is covered with poli so the temperature inside is easy to maintain. During the day 26ºC and higher, and during night near 25ºC. That’s great for this time of year.

With the new heating system I hope to raise temperature during winter and to low electricity account. This system works only when temperature in the heating box reaches 30ºC.

With this system I can filter, oxygenate and heat the water from the tank/pond.

Hello,
wow didn´t thought u could keep it so warm.
What are the coldest temperatures in Winter in your area?

Hi Alex. ;)

Outside, in my ponds, the water reaches 2/3/4ºC during night. Air temperature reaches near 0ºC in coldest nights. Inside the GreenHouse I’ve registered, last winter, 10/11/12ºC in water. That’s why I’m doing all this things to see if it’s possible to maintain the rays in good health and not expending tons of €€€€ in heating this big tank/pond.

Normally I heat, with electric heaters, the Africans cichlids tanks/ponds, they are 2, and one tank/pond with some American cichlids. But I noticed last year that the electric built wasn’t affected because I’ve covered this tanks/ponds with poli to help maintaining the temperature. And everything was ok.

So I hope that this year, with this new crazy system, I can maintain temperatures high, in this 7000l tank/pond, with low costs in heating. We will see.

I haven't been there this weekend, but everything is ok and temperature is between 23º/24ºC in the rays tank. That's fantastic to this time of the year.

what is the outdoor temp?

LOL

ahahah

I’m just trying to prove that is possible to maintain them like that. Just changing some mentalities.

Everybody thinks that rays need huge filtration systems, big pumps, and lots of oxygen. That they need huge and expensive systems. I’m just trying to prove that maybe not. It all depends on how you do things. And things can be made like I’m doing. ;)

Do you remember this pic?

The first pic from my rays tank!!!!

Everyone thought I was crazy. You all said it was impossible to maintain rays in that tank/pond without any mechanic filter.

Well, look at it now

The water is clear and the temperature is near 26ºC. That's veryyyyy good to this time of year. The heating system is working very well.

In other ponds inside the greenhouse the temperature is about 19ºC and in outside ponds 13/14ºC.
