Ok my LFS just called me (you know you spend to much time there when they have your number), well they just got a customer trade in of a 12" banded knifefish with a nip in its tail from the previous owners bichir. They are holding him till I can get there tomorrow. Now the decision I have to make is whether or not to trade my 4" gold dust bichir in. I was already thinking of trading him in because he is always hiding

lol I will still have 4 more with plans to pick up more its just the only time I see him is if I trn the lights down to 25% and sit down to watch the feeding and wait for 30 min till all the others are done and I'm very still. I love his looks it's the personality that hasn't hit it off

Do you plan on putting the Banded Knife in with your polys?

yes it will go in the hundred gallon with the polys

Thats a great point but most Knife species hide also .

from what the manager told me when the food comes out the banded knife is the 1st one at the front. With the gold dust I only see him for a few seconds a couple times a week

Yeah, that's why if I do a knife I'll do an African brown. :)
They are busy in well decorated tanks, I'm sure they would love your tanks

To be honest unless you have dim lighting the South American knifefish are hiders. May be worth it for the individuality but not activity
