I've got a decision to make

Banded knives are incredible fish, gymnotus group, but will never see them. I assume it's a knife from gymnotus group right? They will be in a cave somewhere and only out at night. They need soft and acidic water (tea colored). Get a couple of African knives and they'll be active.

They are gymnotus if my memory serves me correctly.

My Africans are more reclusive with a brighter light, they are busy around the wood structure or sit at the base of my vallis, maybe as it spreads they will live up. Africans are extremely active at times though especially with dim light (they come out when the lights go off like clockwork)

I believe these knives are rather rare. If you can easily get another poly then trade for the knife.
I agree with this. They are generally pricey too. I would think that 100 dollars could easily be charged for one of those

They are seasonal but not rare but not offered regularly. All the true tiger and zebras if I remember right come from Peru.

True tiger and zebra will go for close to it.

For me I'd get it if it was a tiger or zebra knife. They are worth it but most of the time will be a solo fish just to risky cause of the cost and biting from polys.

I say this cause I know a websute online and gets them atleast offered yearly. I've ordered from him prior and has good trusted stock.

they are pretty rare around here thats for sure I've only heard of one once and it sold in 12 hours and it was tiny only 3" this one is 12" and came from a private home. Their are 3 striped knifefish I was looking at

Gymnotus Tigre aka Tiger Knifefish
tiger knifefish.jpg
Gymnotus pedanopterus aka Zebra Knifefish
zebra knifefish.jpg

Gymnotus carapo aka Banded Knifefish

of the 3 the one they have is my least favorite because they get the biggest and are the most aggressive plus the others look better. However they are willing to let me have him for $30 so I'm going down there to look at him and as long as his size doesn't endanger the remaining bichirs the main one I'd be worried about is the ornate since he is 3.5-4" so we will see if I get him and either way Ill post pictures of him
