OH GOD I'M SO EXCITED. I KNOW I SHOULDN'T GET TOOOOOO EXCITED BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN MY ENTIRE LIFE THAT I'VE EVER OWNED FISH THAT HAVE SPAWNED.

I NOTICED THIS BEHAVIOUR YESTERDAY : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nb6kCFKekII

PLEASE EXCUSE MY CURSING. I'M JUST TOO EXCITED.

SO WE SHALL SEE WHAT HAPPENS. AND I NEED TO CLEAR OUT MY 10 IN CASE THEY MAKE ANOTHER BATCH.

Congratulations, I hope everything works out for you. Nice looking Rams.

Good times !!

Thanks guys. I know the first few spawns can be unsuccessful, so I'm not gonna get my hopes up. I'm gonna relocate my fish in the 10 gallon and turn it into a nursery for the next batch. I've been told if you try to raise the fry without the parents turning up the heat and adding a little bit of aquarium salt can help. Any suggestions?? I'm so new at this.

Congrats, now the real fun starts. Just keep an eye on the eggs, they should stay a nice amber color if they are fertile.

I know they'll turn white if they aren't right?? I wish I could love them to my 10 so they can do their thing with less stress but I cant. Is it possible for them to raise the eggs to fry in a larger tank with other fish??

It is possible with the current stock level you have. My only real concern would be the pleco sneaking into the nest site at night and hovering up all the eggs or fry. Now were you planning on setting up the 10 as a breeding tank or a grow out tank? And you are exactly right with the bad eggs turning white, but the parents should cull those bad eggs before the fungus spreads to the viable eggs. You could add a little Pimafix to your tank to help with the fungus control. Now since you use the terracotta plate as a feeding dish for your fish, won't that make them more likely to try to eat the eggs? just a thought. Most ram breeders have lots of ground cover plants so the fry can hide and escape predation. Your gravel in the tank will also help the fry hide once they hatch.

What if I pick up a tank divider?? At least till I can clean the 10 out for them. I'd use it as a breeding tank at first I suppose. I never thought about this really happening even tho I knew it was possible. I had a feeling after that last water change this might happen. I wanna give them the best chance to survive and give the parents a stress free environment if I can. They are in the 40 right now. I'm also worried about the bichir......ugh. I feel like I should have done more in the event of this happening.
