  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
wow sbuse that sucks, i hope your arowana lives for a while and grows like a monster now. luckly i moved my silver to my big tank when he was pretty small about 5 inches so he didnt try to jump on me yet, but im pretty sure hes gonna develop some DE because almost everyones silver gets it. no biggie ill still love my silver!! mines at about 7-8 inches right now and growing pretty fast

wow what are the odds sbuse... i hope mine doesnt get it. Ill cross my fingures, ive yet to see my arow jump..:P

Here's my story.
My 3" arowana was fine, after a week she developed DE.
I fed her strictly hikari aro pellets and FD krill and bloodworms.
Before I took her to the vet.(that's another story) she jumped out of the container, hit a cabinet, jumped off of that hit a few really thick books and then proceeded to land on carpet.
I don't think trauma directly causes DE.

oh...it does...it is the single most widly proven cause...

it will DE isn't a killer...my other aro jumped out of the tank at 10" and got it...it is still alive and before i sold it it was 24"+...

the odd are really good considering that it is a silver and it jumped...yours most likely will get it...

I had a Silver of the same size (or a little smaller) get DE.

6/11/08 3" No Drop Eye

07/15/08 Drop Eye very present @ 6-7", the fish was very skittish. He spooked many times when people walked by the tank. So I know he bumped himself more than once.

Sadly I lost this guy & my old Chocolate Cichlid a week or two after this photo due to an error on my part when dosing either the plant ferts or Co2 in the tank. I no longer use anything of that sort in any tanks to avoid the chance I mess up.

from what i gatherd it isn't as common till they are bigger...might be the amount of force needed to inflict the injury...in my case a 2' drop to hard wood floor or your case repeat injury...yours isn't as bad as mines...

i guess it add character to them? doesnt look that bad sbuse..

it got it at 7-7.5"
I think I have the record on here (or at least close to it) for the smallest aro w/ DE. I first noticed the DE when my silver was only 5-6" and it was very noticable by the time it was at 7-8". I posted a thread about it a long time ago (or at least I consider it a long time ago).

I think this case can actually be used as concrete proof in the DE debate. Nice to have someone with pretty much flawless proof of the cause of their aro's DE.

i never said it looked bad...if i see a 30" silver without DE it would look out of place...
