Here’s a photo of what I say her it’s hard to see the mapping in photo even in person you need the right light and then the body is colorful then the fins always rounded idk ?‍ anymore

He/she is definitely a regular JD. As for gender I’m not sure, but then again I’m not too experienced regarding Dempseys. How big is it?

Blue at 2-2.5 inches long. I’m pretty sure she’s a female cause she has a LOT of blue on the gills/face. Sorry about the glare

Yeah I’d guess male too. Imo he doesn’t have enough blue on the head/gills to be a female. He’s a stunner

Almost 4” every one keeps saying it has a EBJD gene it was more expensive than the common ones next to it and then they looked different as well I wanted the $10 one because they were different

Mine seems to have that same profile this isn’t a close up hopefully you can see but also the spangles is really 1 prominent and 2 look like they are breaking up as he/she grows but had round fins up until recently the tail fin was pointed now round opposite of the others so I am again seriously confused as people also insist that my fish has a blue gene???? Ugh !!! Bro you remember this time was supposed to be smooth sailing and if I need more time I am so fine with it!!!
About 3” maybe a little more!!

I always wondered how one makes that determination about a recessive gene without any scientific proof (gene test), especially since the fish doesn't look like an EBJD. I can understand if we're looking at an EBJD, and say it has an EBJD gene.

This is like looking at a person with blonde hair, and say they have the red hair recessive gene.

Well I do have blonde hair by hair dye and my hair is actually red …. LOL ? but yes I see your point now my blonde hair blue eyed cousin have husband with blonde hair blue eyes and red head kids from my grandpa being Irish red head
