Jack Dempsey destroyed Oscar over night

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ya that is very true, But depending on age though. When i was 16 i had 2 oscars in a 20g, i knew i would have to upgrade, i just didn't expect the speed they grow. But again, if your 18, like i am, your old enough to make your own decision, and by the way, my parents think i spend to much on the fish also.

Guys I'm really sorry for the noobness, I understand how overstocked my tanks are, I'm still starting out so thanks for some of you guys for cuting me some slack.

Youll get there. Its difficult when starting out to limit yourself to fish that will fit in your tanks.Even more so with all the great photos of fish to be found on a site like this.
thats the first thing.STOP buying fish.
Pare down the stock you have to what you can care for in the tanks you have. You have some cool fish, enjoy them.Time will come for more and bigger tanks.

I'm somewhat appalled by the responses I've been seeing here. You should definitely not feel bad. You're just starting out and even those who've kept fish a while are always learning. If anyone should feel stupid it's some of the obnoxious idiots who've replied in this thread. The attitude of some people on forums like these is what turns me off of them. If you can't offer any feedback in a kinder and more respectful manner then don't bother!!! Hang in there man and enjoy the hobby. Mistakes happen to all of us.

Here, here!! I find it, interesting for lack of a better word, how people start out as newbs, but then they make mistakes, they learn and they get better become successfull. But then they see someone come along who is just starting out themselves and they have zero tolerance for the newb mistakes of this new person, even though they most likely did some of the same things way back when they first started out.

A lot of the members here have vast experience when it comes to keeping monster fish. However having experience does not mean that you are helpful.

Quite frankly, if you've gotten to the point where you have that "experienced snobbiness" then you shouldn't be replying to newcomers to the hobby. Stick with your group of experienced friends and have a blast. Nothing wrong with that....some people just aren't cut out to be teachers, advisors, etc.

Yea I've notices that a lot now.

Just remember to put the fish first and not your desire to own more and you well be ok.

Hey, killdog102, I learned the hard way, too. As a kid, I had goldfish in bowls, lizards that died, etc. It wasn't until my late teens that I became aware that there were actually proven methods of keeping pets alive. So don't beat yourself up too badly for these early goofs. Just do your best to learn a little each day and set things right as you are able. That's really all you can do (all of us, even those old pros make mistakes), and I hope we can be helpful to you in your fishkeeping endeavors.

Hi, I'm new to the site but not new to fishkeeping.
It's hard not pushing the stock limit on a tank, we all understand, I know I made mistakes too. BUT, listen to the guys that have experience and don't get angry. It's hard for experienced fishkeepers to listen to stories of fish dying from mistakes that's all.
You need bigger tanks if you want all those fish.

The guy has 239 posts and has been on here for nearly a year and a half, if you have the internet there is no excuse for not doing some research on the fish you plan to keep and what they need to stay healthy. What has he been posting/reading on here for over a year to think what he is stocking his tanks with is in any way shape or form acceptable or going to work?
