jon m- nice male, would love to pair off my female w/ a male like that

Thanks. I'm a bit annoyed with him at the moment since he ate my smallest clown loach earlier today. First time he's eaten any other tank mates and he's gone for months in the tank with them without any interest in eating them. I'm not surprised though. The clown loach was definitely the runt of the group and way smaller so I'm pretty sure he won't be able to eat the other ones but the runt was also my damn odd ball so I was looking forwards to seeing him get bigger.

That sucks. Maybe he wants some live food? Try giving him ghost shrimp every once in awhile.

I'll buy some pellets for him! I read online that he also eats crickets and worms? Should that be part of a staple diet or just an occasional treat?
As an occasional treat would be fine.

I find having to have another tank set up for the soul purpose of quarantining live feeders before feeding is quite annoying. Also, I don't want him getting into the habit of chasing down and eating live food. For that reason, I don't feed any of my fish live feeders. Blood worms and brine shrimp off and on between a healthy pellet/flake combo for a staple food.

Would such a big fish eats tiny little bloodworms? And should i get the frozen or live worms?

The frozen blood worms sold at any lfs will be fine. Just make you have him on a quality cichlid pellet as a staple food and use the blood worms here and there.
