Jack Dempsey strang behaviour

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Honestly It looks like he maybe ran into something leaving lasting damage but if he is eating and looks unharmed then I would leave him also beauty of a JD BTW
Yeah he's a beauty, big and thick with great colours. It's a real shame to see him like this. He use to be a very happy and active fish. It was a joy to watch him swim around and watch him do backflips in the water current.

Haha thats what everyone says when they see him. It's really hard trying to explain he is fine and not knowing why he is acting like this.
Hopefully you can provide him with a comfortable life for whatever he has remaining.

When I was in your position I was doing daily monitoring and looking for deterioration, and anything that looked like it was a struggle to live, loss of appetite. It was the 2 year mark for me when I made the decision to euthanize.

Don’t let other people opinions bother you, he pretty much does what an adult Jack Dempsey does except he’s on his side...

Its funny he goes back to normal when its feeding time thats what we call food driven lol
I know right, its so strange. He's in my big display tank and my dad was over the other day and was in denial about him being fine making comments about the JD's health. Had to shut him up by pulling out the hikari packet lol my dad was shocked when he saw him fly up to the surface smashing pellets.

after looking at the picture closer it looks as if he is in a perminatly dazed/stunned position with fins flared and eyes look unfocused maybe post a vid to see if this was just a quick thing during the pic?
Not sure how to upload a video. But he definitely isn't stunned and is mobile when he wants to be. Ive attached more pics of him while moving around.
