Jack Dempsey - Visual Growth Rate

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks and thanks.

He will be the only cichlid in his tank for the time being, he has a bristlenose plec in with him now (see pic). I am contiplating adding another small plec sp and maybe a shoal of dithers after the move. Time will tell. I also was thinking about adding a Sajica or Multispinosa, and I have heard polys (Birchirs) are good Jack tankmates.

Anyone had any luck with any of the above?

Here is his tankmate, 2"

Your pictures are amazing. It makes me want to go out and get a replacement digital camera for the one I "misplaced", an early generation Canon digital.

Thanks. I would like to get more into the "fish photography" hobby. But new baby + new house = broke elting :irked: MFK's sister site has awesome photos and a bunch of great members!

Hey everybody, thought I would post an update:

The move went well. The tank didn't cycle for the most part and the Dempsey was only in the 10 gal for three days. He is back in the 55 gallon and lovin life.

He has a new tank mate, a Gold Severum that is about 1" long. He is pretty drab at this point, but I am hoping that with a good diet, good water conditions, and a little age he/she will color up and be a nice looking Severum.

The Dempsey is looking really nice! He is about 4" long I'd say and THICK! I am going to modify his diet over the next couple of weeks. He will be getting Hikari Gold as a staple still, and instead of The brine shrimp w/spirulina & Bloodworms he will get Krill and Earthworms, and possibly HBH Moist spirulina. He is an awesome fish, and has great personality.
