which fish do you prefer?

im thinking in these terms of the comparison:

-Aggression (to tank mates)
-Prey aggression (feeding live fish)
-Fun (opinion)
-Dentition (less oral teeth < more teeth)
-Coloration (opinion)
-Size (Smaller < Bigger)
-Ease of care (Easy > Hard)
-Durability (Finicky < Hardy)
-Ease of sexing (Hard < Easy)

this applies to jacks in general. regular jack dempseys.

Dempsey and Terror have about the same aggression.

As far as prey aggression goes I tip the hat to Dempsey here Terrors get an honorable nod but will pass on larger offerings...

Terrors get the mention here on the Fun level... Dempseys like to sit more then play unless they are feeding or mating...

Dempseys get the nod for the show of teeth... I Love the teeth on both my larger dempseys... the terrors mouth is a little smaller...

Coloration depends on the fish...
I have a Male dempsey that is just beautiful has reds and purples and blues and teals little yellow and gold too...show me a terror like that....

Terrors get thicker.. my female terror is just that a terror just sick on the thickness gauge...

Both are extremely easy to care for...

Both are pretty hardy too....

Sexing is easy with both species as a general guide line by sight you look at the spangling on the gill plate... more spangling usually = female...
Male terrors also look alot better then females...
It's a toss up with JD's...

All views expressed are but from my honest opinion and having owned 5 different GT's and 10+ JD's i am expressing from personal experience...

I like both but it's easier to get a sexy JD then it is to get a sexy GT...

I prefer the coloration and body shape of Green Terrors. Jack Dempseys are too slender IMO.

If you're looking to get one, its worth noting that GTs don't grow very fast. Buying an adult is a good idea.

IME with my GT, I've had him housed at different times with jd's and oscars, and they've all wound up severly beaten. Even when I tried moving him into the other fishes established home. So for aggression I'd say the gt.

i have both gt and jd. both really pretty. my jd has a lil more coloring than the gt. but the gt has a lil more personallity.

I have both, and prefer my male GT to all of them.
Both can get real aggressive when they mature.

i like both of them but if i had to choose one it would be a GT just because mine have always been a little more active and fun to watch than my jds.

I prefer jack dempseys awsome fish to keep, great color. I currently have a Gold Saum and hes no where near as cool as my old pair of JDs

I like the GTS...they always seem to have more personality. I also like their body shape a little more. I have seen some killer JD's though...they just seem more shy and skittish to me.
